When does the Once Upon a Time musical episode airs?

First things first, for those who don’t know, the OUAT musical episode will air on this Sunday, April 7 at 8/7 central on ABC. So nothing has changed in this aspect, because Once Upon a Time is sticking to their Sunday evening schedule, even if this musical episode is such a big event for the show.

What happens on Once Upon a Time musical episode?

Next big question that probably is on everybody’s mind is, what happens in the musical episode. And why is everybody singing? Well, as the promo for Once Upon a Time season 6 episode 20 explains (video below), Snow White wished upon a star when she was pregnant with Emma, and all Enchanted Forrest was bursting into a song. How does it translate to modern-day Storybrook? That is left to be seen, but I have a feeling that Emma and Killian’s wedding will somehow be involved.

Yes, you read that right! The next Once Upon a Time episode will not only have all of our favorite characters singing, but it will also feature the wedding that Captain Swan fans have been anticipating for seasons now. Emma and Hook will be tying the knot, and I couldn’t be more excited to finally see those two together for good.

What songs will be featured on the Once musical episode?

Another burning question that many of us have been wondering is what songs will the characters be singing? Will they be the classic Disney songs from the fairytales? Or will they be original songs? Well, as much as hearing Emma, Hook, Show, Charming, Regina, Henry, Zelena and the rest of the gang singing Disney songs would be fun, I am actually glad that the show’s creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis decided to go for all original songs. So on the Once Upon a Time musical episode, we will hear 7 completely new and original songs. They are written by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, and the arrangement was done by OUAT’s own composer Mark Isham.

Who will be singing what?

And we even know the song names and who sings what. So, Ginnifer Goodwin’s Snow and Josh Dallas’s Charming will be bursting into a duet called “Powerful Magic” (video below).

A song called “Love Doesn’t Stand a Chance” will see Lana Parrilla, Lee Arenberg, Tony Amendola, Beverley Elliott, Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas all performing one number with Lana’s Evil Queen at the center of the performance (video below).

Then Colin O’Donoghue’s Hook and his Pirate Choir will be belting out a song titled “Revenge Is Gonna Be Mine”. Rebecca Mader will be singing “Wicked Always Wins” as Zelena aka the Wicked Witch of the West. Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas will be engaging in a sing-off with Lana Parrill during the song called “Charmings vs. Evil Queen”. Jennifer Morrison will be performing her own solo called “Emma’s Theme”. Which is said to reflect Emma’s journey throughout all 6 seasons of the show. And finally, the last number of the Once Upon a Time musical episode is called “A Happy Begining” and it will be sung by all of the cast together.

What is the title of the OUAT musical episode?

Lastly, now that we know when the Once Upon a Time musical episode airs, what happens in it and what songs our favorite characters will be singing, all that is left is one question. How is this Once musical episode called? And the answer is very simple, it is very appropriately titled “The Song in Your Heart”. This name encompasses not only the musical aspect of this musical event but also the storytelling aspect, as well. As Jennifer Morrison, who plays the show’s titular character, Emma Swan, put it in an interview for TVLine, the episode “kind of marks the final transformation from ugly duckling to swan. She overcomes the last of her fears and baggage and realizes that this song has been within her, her whole life, and it holds a power that she didn’t realize”.

So, are you excited for the Once Upon a Time musical episode? I know I am. And luckily we don’t even have to wait weeks, only a couple of days to experience this magical event. So tune in on Sunday to see Captain Swan wedding and your favorite Once characters beling out fun songs.
