SyFy renews Killjoys and cancels Dark Matter

Since SyFy summer has come to an end, it was also time for the channel to announce which of their original content they are renewing, and which shows we need to say goodbye to forever. This time Killjoys had the fortune to get renewed for not one, but two additional seasons. And although the announcement also included the information that season 5 will be the last one for the space bounty-hunter drama, nevertheless, this was very good news for all Killjoys fans.

Unfortunately, Killjoys sister show Dark Matter wasn’t as lucky. This sci-fi drama got canceled and ended its 3-season run with 39 episodes under its belt. All that is left for Dark Matter fans to do is to continue campaigning for their show on Twitter. And maybe, just maybe another network will be interested enough to continue the adventures of the Raza crew.

HBO renews True Detective

In other renewal news, this past week HBO decided to give their crime anthology series another shot by renewing True Detective for a third season. Along with the renewal news, the cable network also revealed the official summary for True Detective season 3. And it tells us that the junior season of the show will follow a terrible crime that was committed in the Ozark Mountains and the mystery around it.

Chicago Fire season 6 first look is here

Finally, the day has come that we get a glimpse at Chicago Fire’s much-anticipated season 6. Because this past week NBC released new promo for Chicago Fire season 6 (video below!). And, even though the sneak peek doesn’t really tell us what happened to Casey, Herrmann, Mouch and other characters that were left trapped in a fire at the end of season 5, it still was a nice treat to hold us over until the Chicago Fire season 6 premiere on Thursday, September 28.

But the new Chicago Fire season 6 first look was not the only thing released by NBC regarding the new season of Chicago Fire. Because the network also premiered a short Chicago Fire season 6 episode 1 teaser (video below!). And, let me tell you, I don’t think I’m ready for what’s to come on Chicago Fire season 6. Tissues, I will need a lot of tissues!

Spike releases The Shannara Chronicles season 2 sneak peek

If on previous Week in Retrospects we saw the promo for The Shannara Chronicles season 2, then last week Spike, the network that will host the new season of the show, released a new The Shannara Chronicles season 2 teaser (video below!). In it, we see scenes from the show’s upcoming season, while the show’s stars Austin Butler and Manu Bennett preview the events of the sophomore season of the show. And I got to say, the new season sounds and looks very exciting! The October 11 season 2 premiere can’t come fast enough!

Mr. Robot season 3 trailer is out

The last show that also got a new teaser trailer this past week was Mr. Robot (video below!). This promo revealed more details about the USA Network’s hit drama’s third season. For example, in the promo, Darlene revealed that The Dark Army had turned on them. As well as, that Elliot is indeed alive, by showing him waking up in Angela’s house after the events of season 2 finale. So, as the show’s October 11 premiere draws close, we finally got a better glimpse at what to expect in Mr.Robot season 3, and how to prepare for what’s to come.

Some Once Upon a Time season 7 news

Finally, this past week we also got some more Once Upon a Time season 7 news. More particularly, information related to some of the new characters and new settings of the shows upcoming season. For example, now we know that Regina’s Seattle alter ego Ronnie, will be running a bar, which will essentially become what Granny’s was in the previous seasons of the show.

Additionally, we also learned that one of the show’s new characters Tiana, played by Mekia Cox, will be needing our characters’ assistance to help free her people from an unknown evil. And lastly, for all Captain Swan fans out there, now we can tell you that you need to watch out for Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 2 because this will be the episode, which will explain Emma’s absence. And it will also be the last episode of Jennifer Morrison portraying her iconic role. How’s that for some big news?

Weekly TV highlight

Killjoys season 3 finale

This week’s TV highlight definitely needs to go to Killjoys season 3 finale. Because it was truly amazing! It not only neatly wrapped up some long-running story lines and beautifully highlighted all the show’s characters. But it also gave way to new story arcs that no doubt will play out during the last two Killjoys seasons. It probably was one of the best season finales I have seen, because it had everything you’d expect from a season ender. Yet, at the same time, it also was quintessentially Killjoys, which means that it was bad-ass to the bone.
