Here at TVshowPilot, we love a good comedy. Especially if it features a great cast and depicts a situation any of us could find ourselves in. And Fam, CBS’s new comedy pilot, is shaping up to be just that. Want to know more about CBS’s latest venture into the comedy genre? Then keep on reading this article!
Who’s in charge?
When it comes to the people who are at the helm of Fam, this comedy is written by Corinne Kingsbury. With her, Bob Kushell, Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling, Dana Honor and David Rosenthal executive producing the show. Scott Ellis directed the pilot episode as well as serves as an executive producer on this new comedy series. And folks from Kapital Entertainment, TrillTV, and CBS TV Studio are helping out with the project as well.
What’s this show about?
So what this new comedy will be about? Well, Fam centers on a newly-engaged couple, Clem and Jay. She comes from a less than upstanding family and tells everyone that her embarrassment of a father is dead. He, on the other hand, comes from a rich family. Yet, despite his parents’ wealth, Jay is a surprisingly down-to-earth guy. But when Clem’s younger half-sister Shannon barges into their lives and asks to live with the happy couple, the secret that Clem’s father isn’t actually dead comes to light. Which might just derail Clem and Jay’s seemingly perfect relationship and life.
Who’s playing who?
First, let’s start with the leads of the show. Nina Dobrev and Tone Bell will be playing Clem and Jay. Clem is described as being outspoken, witty and, by the time we meet her, she has put in the work to get her life on the right track. While Jay is an NYU professor with an easy-going character and attitude. Clem’s half-sister Shannon will be played by Odessa Adlon. Thanks to the fact that Shannon didn’t have the most stable upbringing, she is a bit of a wild child and possesses many bad habits. While Sheryl Lee Ralph and Brian Stokes Mitchell will take up the roles of Jay’s parents Rose and Walt. Rose is elegant, intellectual and the perfect partner to the sophisticated Walt.
The latest on Fam
I have to say, this show seems like a lot of fun. And, as it usually is in comedies about people from different backgrounds coming together, it sounds like Fam’s plot literally lends itself to some good, hilarious comedy. And apparently, CBS bosses think the same, because Fam was picked up for series. Meaning that we will see this comedy on the air in 2019. In fact, the show will premiere on Thursday, January 10 at 9:30/8:30 central.
