Week in retrospect: Captain Swan wedding update, PLL 7B premiere, new series trailers

TV News items

Captain Swan wedding looks revealed

While we don’t know if Once Upon a Time is coming back for season 7 it doesn’t take away from the fact that we still have a ton of stuff to be excited for. One of them being Emma and Hook’s (Captain Swan anyone?) wedding, which also will happen during the show’s musical episode. But even though we still have to wait a bit to see this milestone event, because the episode airs on May 7, we now know how the newlyweds will look like on their big day thanks to TVLine. Emma will wear a Grace Kelly inspired wedding gown (the post’s title picture) for the Captain Swan wedding, while her Pirate will be decked out in velvet (picture below).

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger trailer debuts

One of the biggest surprises last week was that Freeform dropped the trailer for Marvel’ Cloak & Dagger. This superhero show follows two teens Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen, who acquire superpowers that link them together. And the trailer (video below) shows a glimpse of what we can expect from this show once it drops sometime in early 2018.

Younger gets a season older

Although Younger is a show about a woman pretending to be younger, the show itself is getting older and older. It was renewed for season 5 just this past week. The show, which stars such names as Sutton Foster and Hilary Duff will return for a fifth season sometime in 2018. But before that, we can enjoy the fourth season of Younger starting June 28.

Freeform’s The Bold Type also gets a trailer

Another series trailer premiered this last week because we also got the first look at The Bold Type. This TV show follows three women, Aisha Dee’s Kat, Katie Stevens’s Jane and Meghann Fahy’s Sutton as they juggle living in New York and working at one of the biggest fashion magazines. And just as the Cloak & Dagger trailer, the official preview of The Bold Type (video below) also gave us an idea as to what we will see throughout the series, which premieres July 11.

Supergirl casts a new villain

It looks like Mon-El’s mom and Cadmus aren’t the only threats Supergirl will have to face this season. Recently it was announced, that the show has cast Mark Gibbon for the role of General Zod. For those who aren’t familiar with the Superman mythology, General Zod is one of Clark’s greatest enemies. And since we know that Tyler Hoechlin will be back for Supergirl season 2 finale, if I have to guess then I would say that Zod will be the big evil the Super cousins will have to face in the episode.

Important TV moments

Beginning of the end for Pretty Little Liars

Probably the biggest TV moment this past week was the premiere of Pretty Little Liars season 7B. The first of last 10 episodes set up the story which will be unraveling throughout the final dozen episode. And although the opening episode did answer some questions, like the faith of Toby and Spencer, it also posed a ton of new ones, which hopefully will be answered by Pretty Little Liars season 7 episode 20.

Famous in Love premiere

Right after the PLL premiere, we experienced another one. A show called Famous in Love debuted its first episode right after Pretty Little Liars. The show, created by the mastermind behind PLL Marlene King along with Rebecca Serle, tells the story about an ordinary college girl who is propelled into the spotlight after getting a lead role in a Hollywood blockbuster. It stars Bella Thorne, Charlie DePew, Carter Jenkins, Perrey Reeves among other actors.

Girlboss launches

Finally, another TV series experienced its launch this past week and it was Netflix’s Girlboss. The biographical show, based on Nasty Gal founder Sophia Marlowe, dropped all 13 of its first season episodes on April 21. And although we don’t know if the show will come back for season 2, the first one was pretty great.
