Week in retrospect: new trailers, seasons and episode titles & Pretty Little Liars series finale

From actors exiting a beloved show due to pay inequality and seeing Pretty Little Liars series finale. To the reveal of Marvel’s Inhumans first full trailer, Once Upon a Time 7×01 title and the kick off of Killjoys season 3. This is Week in Retrospect: June 26 to July 2.

TV News items

First Marvel’s Inhumans full-length trailer is here

In previous Week in Retrospect posts I have talked about Marvel’s Inhumans posters and teasers, but this past week we finally got the first full-length trailer for the upcoming series. In the introduction (video below) we meet all the main characters, as well as get a glimpse of what this TV show will be all about. The trailer definitely looks epic, so I have a feeling that this ABC series will be that as well.

Grace Park and Daniel Dae Kim leaving Hawaii Five-0

This past week also brought some very sad news to all Hawaii Five-0 fans, because we found out that two original cast members are leaving the show ahead of season 8. That’s right, Grace Park and Daniel Dae Kim, who played cousins Kono Kalakaua and Chin Ho Kelly are exiting the show. And the reason for their departure is a big one. Reportedly CBS refused to pay them as much as their white co-stars Scott Caan and Alex O’Loughlin, so the actors decided to leave the series altogether.

Pay equality is a very hot topic right now, be it in business or in Hollywood. And since the two actors were paid about 10 to 15 percent less than Caan and O’Loughlin, I’d say it is about time Kim and Park stood up for their rights and for equality. Of course, it will be sad not to see Kono and Chin on Hawaii Five-0 season 8. However, I think it will be worth it if it brings us even a small step closer to equal pay.

Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 1 title revealed

Quite a long time has passed since we have heard anything newsworthy about the upcoming season of Once Upon a Time. But, luckily, Adam Horowitz, one of the show’s creators, broke that streak by giving us the title of Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 1. The first episode of the revamped 7th season of the ABC show is called “Hyperion Heights”.

On top of that Horowitz also shared details about where the very first scene of the season 7 opener will take place – in Storybrooke. Unfortunately, we don’t know anything more. But it sure as hell got me excited for the new OUAT season.

Better Call Saul renewed for season 4

Lastly, this past week also brought us news that AMC had renewed Better Call Saul for a 10-episode fourth season. The Breaking Bad prequel has been enjoying rave reviews and a ton of award nominatio. So it is no wonder that AMC gave the series another season to shine.

Important TV moments

Pretty Little Liars series finale

This past week was a sad yet satisfying week for all PLL fans because it came with the very last two-hour episode of Pretty Little Liars. And although the Pretty Little Liars series finale gave us answers to many long-standing questions and happy endings to all of our favorite characters, it was still a sad day. No more Pretty Little Liars as we know and love it. But on the bright side, there already are rumors swirling around about a possible spin-off series. So PLLs or at least some of the show’s characters might not be going too far for too long.

Pretty Little Liars series finale

iZombie season 3 finale

Another sad moment this pa week came for iZombie fans. Because last week we saw the final episode of iZombie season 3. And although we already know that there will be another season for our favorite Rom-Zom-Com, the season 3 finale left us in quite the spot. Discovery day finally came. People were freaking out. And Ravi made a true sacrifice for science and for finding a zombie virus cure, by asking Liv to scratch him and testing the antivirus on himself. iZombie season 4 can’t come fast enough!

Killjoys season 3 premiere

But let’s end this Week in Retrospect on a brighter note. This past Friday we finally saw the premiere of Killjoys season 3. The season opener gave us the badassery that Killjoys is known for, while also delving even deeper into the whole Hullen conspiracy. And although the episode saw Johnny being separate from the rest of Team Awesome Force, it still managed us to give a well rounded Dutch, John and D’av experience. To find out more out the episode, read my full Killjoys season 3 episode 1 review.
