Week in retrospect: GoT season 7 promo, Katie Cassidy back on Arrow and Bones series finale

TV News items

Katie Cassidy is coming back to Arrow-verse

If you are a fan of Arrow then this news should be very exciting to you. One of the original cast members Katie Cassidy, who played Laurel Lance, Oliver Queen’s girlfriend and vigilante by the name of Black Canary, and who exited the series in season 4 after her character was killed, is coming back to the Arrow-verse to play Laurel’s doppelganger Black Siren. And it is not just as a guest-star either. Cassidy has been promoted to series regular for Arrow’s sixth season.

Santa Clarita Diet is getting another season

Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet has been officially renewed for season 2. The zombie-esque horror comedy premiered barely 2 months ago, and its lead stars are Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant with Victor Fresco as creator and showrunner.

The Mindy Project is ending

This week it was also confirmed that season sixth will be the final season for Hulu’s The Mindy Project. The season 5 finale of the show aired on March 28 in which we saw Mindy proposing and marrying Ben. And we will be able to see a continuation of that all through season 6, which will premiere sometime in September.

ABC pulls the plug on Time After Time

Then during this week we also got the news that ABC will stop airing their new time traveling show Time After Time. The freshman show has been struggling in the ratings department ever since it premiered. So the fact that ABC decided not to air new episodes of the show, which might as well mean that the show is canceled, doesn’t come as that big of a surprise.

Game of Thrones season 7 trailer is here

On a brighter note, the HBO’s hit show Game of Thrones debuted its first trailer for season 7 (that you can see below), which is the second-to-last season for the iconic show. The premiere of Game of Thrones season 7 is set to air on July 16.

Important TV moments

Bones has ended

We got to say goodbye to all of our favorite characters. And we also got a glimpse of the character’s futures, which is always great, because, although, the series is ending, it doesn’t mean that character’s lives are.

Heartland season 10 finale

Another hugely important moment in TV was the season 10 finale of CBC’s Heartland. It provided us with all the things a season ender should. There were resolutions to season-long story lines, two huge events that drove the episode and a cliffhanger to hold us over until season 11. But the best part about the episode? We got to finally meet Amy and Ty’s baby girl.

13 Reasons Why premiere

In the midst of all the finales, one show also premiered this week. You can go ahead and binge watch the whole first season of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why right now. The show is based on Jay Asher’s YA novel by the same name. And such names as Diana Son, Brian Yorkey, and Selina Gomez are behind the project with actors like Katherine Langford, Dylan Minnette, Christian Navarro, Alisha Boe and others starring in the drama series,
