When Calls the Heart Season 6 just started a couple of weeks ago, but things are off to a great start. With the loss of Jack Thornton, a lot of fans were not sure if they would continue to watch the show. Daniel Lissing made the choice to leave the show on his own. It wasn’t something that the viewers took lightly, though.
So far, it looks like plenty of fans are sticking around. Deadline shared that the season premiere of When Calls the Heart had a lot of viewers. The show had a 3.1 million total viewers. It also ranked as cable’s No. 2 original scripted series of the week. The only show that beat it was The Walking Dead on AMC.
New love interests
The new season of When Calls the Heart is here, but so are the spoilers and what to expect. It looks like they won’t be keeping Elizabeth Thornton (played by Erin Krakow) single forever. She is enjoying being a first-time mom, but spoilers tease that romance is coming her way.
The show isn’t the same without Jack, but that also doesn’t mean that Elizabeth has to stay a single mother. They are actually bringing in two new suitors for her. Mountie Nathan Grant (portrayed by Kevin McGarry) and saloon owner Lucas Bouchard (played by Chris McNally) were both brought in as love interests for Elizabeth. It seems like a lot of this season will be about which one can win Elizabeth’s heart.
Nathan Grant will replace Jack Thornton as the town Mountie. That doesn’t mean he takes over his life, though. He will have to fight to win over Elizabeth. And although Lucas is big into poker and gambling both sound like they are pretty good guys. Lucas has also already shown us that he has a few tricks up his sleeve. Another thing that they are saying is that they are both mysterious. So, it will be interesting for fans to get to know them better this season. It looks like it takes two men to replace Daniel Lissing. He’ll be greatly missed on the show. And sadly, it doesn’t look like there is any way that he is going to return, so don’t get your hopes up for him returning to the show.
McGarry told ET that, “[he doesn’t] know how quickly things are going to unravel. [Elizabeth’s] newly on her own, widowed. She’s not looking to jump into anything, so these are just two new guys that are in the town that it might potentially lead to something down the road… there might be some chemistry.” While McNally revealed that he knows Elizabeth catches his character’s eye right away. However, she might just be a bit too focused on being a first-time mom to even look at a new man for a bit.
There will be a lot of friction between these two new characters. Hopefully, by the end of When Calls the Heart Season 6 Elizabeth will have figured out which person she wants to be with or if it is even one of these guys at all. And, despite it being hard to imagine her with someone new, you also want her to be happy and her happiness might just be Nathan Grant or Lucas Bouchard.
Embracing the new actors
Daniel Lissing who plays Jack also wants everyone to embrace these new actors. He may have moved on from the show, but he still cares about it and the viewers. Here is what he had to say to ET about this: “[You can] miss Jack, but get on board. If you love the show, support the show, you know? I think these guys are great actors, they are gonna bring something different than I brought to the show. It’s gonna be one of those storylines that isn’t the same as Jack and Elizabeth, but hopefully, the audience will get a lot of enjoyment out of it. I think it’s great for the show. Let’s get a couple of leading men in there to replace the Jack character. I think it’s gonna be great for the show, great for… Erin’s character to just have a few options after such hardship.”
Other changes happening on When Calls the Heart Season 6
Finally, there are a few other changes that are happening on When Calls the Heart this season.
Elizabeth is learning to be a single mom, but she seems to be doing a great job with it. Twin boys actually play the part of Jack and Erin Krakow has become very close with the twins. And, it does sound like being a mom is going to be Elizabeth’s focus for the better part of this season, therefore it may be hard for any man other than little Jack to win her heart. You have to remember that Elizabeth was head over heels in love with her husband at the time of his passing. So if it’s not her son, her love for her husband might stop her from looking at other men for quite some time. And, as you probably saw in the season premiere, Hope Vally just got a telephone, which means that all sorts of changes will be arriving to the town this season.

Been watching since the beginning, love it. I miss the Mountie though. I guess they are bringing in a new one but I loved Daniel Lissing. Will our school teacher fall for the new one or the gorgeous guy who bought the saloon. 😊😊😊😊
I was so very, very sad whenever Jack got killed on the show. ~ It just didn’t seem right for him to leave his WCTH fans. 🙁 ~~ My dearest girlfriend and I actually went into mourning over Jack’s death for about a month. 🙁 ~~ Another actor simply could not replace Daniel Lissing in the role of Jack. ~~ It just would not have been the same. Even though many of us understand why Daniel left the show, it’s still sad to know that we won’t see Jack and Elizabeth together anymore. ~~ I’m enjoying the new 2019 season already.!! ~~ I especially like Lucas Bouchard very much since he’s so handsome and very mysterious!!! ~~ I’d like for him to take a real interest in Elizabeth so that it would irritate the Sheriff, especially if Bill can’t get some inside information on him very soon!! This makes a very good, exciting storyline. ~~ After I watched the second episode, it seemed like I had begun to accept Jack’s death without anymore tears. ~~ The show has a completely different feel without Jack. ~~ New characters are making the difference and I’m looking forward to Hope Valley’s new Mountie!! May he arrive very soon!! —– Respectfully submitted, Anna M. from Cheraw, SC
