We are nearing the Heartland mid-season finale, which will air on December 4, however, beforehand we still need to talk about Heartland season 10 episode 8 and why it was so special to one of the characters.
This review contains spoilers!
What I am talking about? Well on Sunday’s Heartland we saw Jack finally be inducted into the “Foothills Cowboy Hall of Fame”. And it was a very moving and special moment not only for Jack, as he had waited a long time for this event, but also for Lisa, Amy, Tim, Georgie and everyone else who is a part of Jack’s family. Of course, it wouldn’t be Heartland and Jack’s story line, if beforehand there wouldn’t be some funny moments, what with Jack’s friend and rodeo buddy Will Vernon coming to see him and Jack thinking, that he visited just because Will is dying. But in the end all that resulted in Jack gave a heartfelt speech about how his rodeo days weren’t the greatest time in his life, it actually is now, when he is surrounded by family and loving friends. I thought that the speech couldn’t be more Jack-like as well as more genuine, which was a great almost-ending to this Heartland episode.
Speaking of almost endings, the episode actually ended with Georgie’s story line for this episode. In it we saw Georgie almost becoming a leader of the Extreme Team, when she stood up to their demanding coach and said that she won’t be doing the dangerous trick, that is too advanced for their level, even if it means losing the headlining position. If in the previous reviews, I have said, that I wish that Georgie’s character would finally show some maturity, then this definitely was it. We saw Georgie not only stand up for her safety, but also for her teammates safety and well-being. On top of that, she also got the rest of her team to do the same, which might mean, that in the future we will see less rivalry between the members of the Extreme Team and more friendship. And in the end even the Team’s coach admitted that she had been too harsh on the girls, which seemed to be a big deal to her, and hopefully this will open up a chance for us to see more of the skill that goes into trick riding and less of the drama that often comes with an all-girls team.
The third big story line of Heartland season 10 episode 8 was Jade getting a big sponsorship deal and Tim, as her coach as well as somebody who knows what can happen, if you are not careful with the fame and money that comes with this type of deal, trying to tell Jade to be careful with this sponsorship deal. But Jade, being Jade, ended up not taking Tim’s advice and it blowing up in her face in the form of her losing the sponsorship deal. Luckily, though, Chuck wagon’s soup, Jades sponsor, decided to hire Jade back at the end of the episode, because she made such a good impression of her fans, but could this mean, that Jade will finally be maturing as a character, too, by cleaning up her image and thinking more of what it means to be in the public eye? We shall see.
Last thoughts on Heartland season 10 episode 8
Last but not least, Ty also made a small appearance through video chat this episode. It was a short but sweet moment, with Ty congratulating Jack and saying that he almost feels like a proud son. I love these small Ty moments in the episodes, because it shows, that, although he is away in Mongolia, he still cares about his family back home. And by the looks of the promo for next week’s episode, Ty will be featured more prominently in it, meaning that we might finally see some real footage from his adventures abroad. But the question still remains, when does Ty come back from Mongolia? Unfortunately, we don’t really know that, since not even the actor who plays Ty himself, Graham Wardle, wanted to disclose this information on the Facebook Live chat he did last week, saying that it would be too much of a spoiler. But judging from what Graham said during this live stream, that he was in Mongolia filming for Heartland during the month of August, and comparing this to the filming schedule of Heartland we could wager, that Ty will be back for the second half of season 10 of the show, maybe starting episode 11 or 12 or even already in episode 10. Don’t quote me on that, it is just my estimate, but it sure would be nice if it would be true, right?. And don’t forget, that this Sunday, November 27, there won’t be a new Heartland episode, because of the annual Grey Cup game, but the next Sunday, December 4, definitely tune in to see the last Heartland episode of 2016, after which the show will return with the second batch of season 10 episodes in 2017.

Jack: Being a Hall-of-Famer, it wouldn’t mean anything to me, if I didn’t have my family and my special friends to share it with. So I want to thank them, and you all know who you are, for making these days, the here and now, the true glory days of my life.
