I’ve been a fan of the MCU ever since I saw the first Avengers movie. And now, seven years later, I just got back from watching the ending to what Marvel was building up to for the past eleven years. I’m not surprised or shocked by how huge the movie was. Or by how monumental it felt. That was a given. Because it is Marvel and it is Avengers: Endgame. However, I was surprised by how great it was executed. By how many little character moments it gave us. And by how funny the movie was. So, without further ado, here is my Avengers: Endgame reaction. No spoilers or in-depth analysis, just my pure reaction to a movie that blew my mind and stunned into a state of giddy bittersweetness.
Tvshowpilot’s Avengers: Endgame reaction
There are times when it’s hard to put your emotions into words. And then there are moments like this when you sit down at your computer after having watched a 3-hour movie that concludes the MCU as we know it now. But I will try. So, if this article sounds like a jumbled mess of emotions, please don’t judge me too harshly, I’m still recovering.
Going into the movie I knew that it’s going to be good. And that it will give us some type of ending to the current Marvel Cinematic Universe. But I did not expect the movie to weave together all twenty-one movies and the things that have happened throughout them so beautifully. To honor the characters so beautifully. And to tell a story that had so many unexpected twists and turns that even the biggest fan of the MCU couldn’t predict them. Which means that if you’re a Marvel fan or, at the very least, have seen all or most of the Marvel films, Avengers: Endgame will be a real treat to watch.
Another surprise about this movie was how funny it is. I guess I should have expected that given the subject matter of Avengers: Endgame – the team trying to undo Thanos’ Infinity War snap. However, the humor didn’t feel forced or just there for comedic relief. Don’t get me wrong, it did that perfectly. But it also was very on brand with each of the characters and their growth throughout all of the movies. And therefore the jokes landed flawlessly and it felt like the comedy was part of the fabric that made this movie what it is.
Then, of course, I also have to mention the multiple heart-wrenching scenes that were scattered all through the movie. The tearjerkers, so to speak. Because although Marvel knows how to do these type of scenes very well, they were especially memorable in Endgame. And it wasn’t even because of their subject matter. When you see the movie you will understand what I’m talking about, so no spoilers. But they were executed in a way that you really felt what all of the characters were going through. You felt their devastation. Or their anger. But you also felt like these moments were justified. Like the future will be better because of them. And that I really appreciate. Because you don’t want to have emotional scenes in a movie like Avengers: Endgame and for them to feel flat or stale. You want to feel them to the core. But also understand that they are not the end. They are the beginning of something new.
And lastly, as I already mentioned, Endgame highlighted all of the characters that were part of it so, so well. The movie gave them room to breathe. Room to interact with others. But, above all, the movie allowed to showcase who each of these characters have become over the two dozen movies and the decade it took Marvel to realize them. It especially focused on the six core avengers that kickstarted the MCU. But didn’t forget to let others shine as well. Which I appreciate. Because MCU isn’t just Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk Thor, Black Widow, and Hawkeye. It has become so much more. And I have no doubt that the MCU will continue to grow into an even bigger entity during Phase 4 and beyond.
Final words on Avengers: Endgame
It was hard to imagine Avengers: Endgame being anything less than incredible. But I think the movie managed to surpass even my wildest expectations and deliver something that I doubt any other movie will be able to top. It was stunning and shocking and extremely impressive. Throw in breathtakingly momentous and terrifically gratifying. And you have yourself the start of a long list of adjectives that can and probably will be used to describe Avengers: Endgame. So, what’s more to say here? Go out and watch the movie as soon as you can! And come back here after to let me know what you thought of it!
