Once Upon a Time series finale: what we know

We have known for a while now that Once Upon a Time, ABC’s long-running fairy-tale drama, was canceled by the network. But despite the fact that this cancellation means no more new episodes of Once Upon A Time, we are happy to hear that the show’s creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz are planning on going out with a bang. Because lately there have been a lot of talk about the Once Upon A Time series finale and what an event it will be. So let’s dive into what we know about the finale so far. And therefore what can we expect to see once it actually airs.

When is the Once Upon a Time series finale?

But first, we need to answer the when. Because, before we can talk about what to expect from the OUAT series finale, we need to know when to tune in to watch it. So the Once Upon a Time series finale is set to play out over two Friday nights. The first part of the Once series finale will air on May 11. And the series will conclude on the following Friday, May 18. And, despite having to wait a week between the two parts of the OUAT finale event, it will at least prolong the time we have left with this show and its characters.

What is the OUAT series finale called?

Although in this last season we have moved away from Storybrooke for the most part. That is still the place where it all began. Therefore the Once finale episode is appropriately called “Leaving Storybrooke”. With the penultimate episode (episode 721) bearing the title “Homecoming”. Which is perfect because during this hour we will see a lot of characters making an appearance. And stay for the last episode of the series.

Who will be back for the finale?

So without further ado, let’s see the long list of beloved characters (and the actors who play them) who will be back for the Once Upon a Time series finale.

First and foremost, it has been confirmed that Jennifer Morrison will be back as Emma Swan, with Emma’s long blond locks and red leather jacket in tow. Because just today Morrison Tweeted a picture of herself sporting long blond hair instead of her current shorter hairdo.

Along with Morrison, her TV parents Snow White and Prince Charming, played by Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas, will also be back to say goodbye to the show and their characters. Speaking of The Charmings… Even though in the 7th season Andrew J. West is playing a grown-up version of their grandson, Jared Gilmore will be back as Henry Mills in episode 20 titled “Is This Henry Mills?”. Along with Beverley Elliott reprising her role as Granny. But back to the two-part Once Upon a Time series finale.

In addition to Morrison, Goodwin, and Dallas being back for the series final hours, Emilie de Ravin will be stepping back into Belle’s shoes one last time as well. Along with Sean Maguire reprising his role of Robin Hood. And Lee Arenberg being back as Grumpy, Tony Amendola as Geppetto, Keegan Tracy as the Blue Fairy, JoAnna Garcia-Swisher as Ariel, Robbie Kay as Peter Pan. Victoria Smurfit as Cruella de Vil and Raphael Sbarge as Archie. Who will all join Colin O’Donoghue’s Captain Hook, Lana Parrilla’s Regina Mills, Robert Carlyle’s Rumplestiltskin, Rebecca Mader’s Zelena and all the new characters from the latest season to give Once Upon a Time a sendoff that this series deserves.

What can we expect from (and want to see on) the Once series finale?

Although the show’s creators and actors have been quite tight-lipped about what the Once Upon a Time series finale will entail. We can expect to see a clashing of worlds so to speak. Because We will most likely see at least some of the new characters from season 7 interacting with those from previous seasons. On top of that, since the title of the finale is “Leaving Storybrooke”, hopefully, we will see the little US town where it all began at least once. And now onto what we hope we will see during the two-part Once finale.

First of all, hopefully, we will get to meet the newest addition to the Charming family aka Emma and Killian’s kid. It would also be amazing to see Lucy, Henry’s daughter, meet both Emma and Snow and Charming. And to see adult Henry interacting with his family with Jacinda and Lucy by his side. And last but not least, since this truly is the end, we hope that the series creators will give our characters a truly happy ending. Because to end a series on a cliffhanger when we know it’s the end would be cruel.

So, what do you think of this amazing finale lineup? Is it Once Upon a Time series finale worthy? Are your favorite characters coming back for the finale?
