With Pretty Little Liars ending last summer, for many, it was an end of an era filled with lies, all-powerful menaces, and 7-year-long mystery. However, luckily, Freeform has decided to extend the legacy of Pretty Little Liars by giving us a PLL spin-off. And, taken into the account the success of Pretty Little Liars. And the fact that the spinoff series, titled The Perfectionists, has already gotten a series order from its network. It is safe to say that we will get to see this show sometime this year or next year. But, while we wait for The Perfectionists to air, let’s look at what we know about the series so far.
Who’s in charge?
Since Marlene King was the one to bring us Pretty Little Liars, she also is helming The Perfectionists. In both writer and executive producer capacity. Along with executive producers Gina Girolamo, Charlie Craig, Leslie Morgenstein, and Lisa Cochran-Neilan. With Warner Horizon Scripted Television, Long Lake Media and Alloy Entertainment helping with producing the show. And Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum directing the pilot episode.
What’s this show about?
Based on Sara Shepard’s book series of the same name, The Perfectionists, much like its mother show tells the tale of a small US town that is filled with secrets and lies. But this time around, instead of Rosewood, The Perfectionists will be set in Beacon Heights. And instead of focusing so much on the lies, this show will be more about trying to appear perfect and all the consequences that come with it. Like a murder that shakes up the perfect little town and its residents.
At the center of it all will be Alison DiLaurentis and Mona Vanderwaal. Who you might know from Pretty Little Liars. As well as a slew of completely new characters who are either attending the town’s highly-rated college or who just live in Beacon Heights. Sound vaguely familiar yet also completely fresh, doesn’t it?
Who’s playing who?
Right now we know most of the actors that will be series regulars on Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists. Let’s start with the familiar faces. Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish will continue to reprise their roles as Alison and Mona. Both of whom will teach at Beacon Heights University. But when it comes to the new faces of the PLL universe, actors like Sofia Carson, Eli Brown, Sydney Park, Kelly Rutherford, Hayley Erin, and Graeme Thomas King will also be residing in Beacon Heights.

Carson will be playing Ava Jalali. A technological genius and aspiring fashion designer, whose parents recently fled the US for unknown reasons. Brown will star as Dylan Wright. A cello prodigy who battles the conservative mids of his hometown residents every day for being gay. Park will portray Caitlin Martell-Lewis. A smart over-achiever of two accomplished mothers, hoping to one day become a United States senator, just like her mother. Rutherford will be stepping in as Claire Hotchkiss. A founder of Beacon Heights University and a big believer in perfection. King will be playing Jeremy. A science genius working at Hotchkiss Technologies and hiding a huge secret. While Erin’s role in The Perfectionists is being kept under wraps, promising it to be juicy and exciting.
