Spin-offs are nothing new to the world of TV shows as often successful franchises are continued via spin-offs. But The CW is taking the spin-off trend to a whole new level because the network put in a season order for Legacies. Which essentially is a spin-off of a spin-off since The Originals, which is Legacies’ mother series, spun off from The Vampire Diaries. Want to know how this spin-off will look like? Then keep on reading!
Who’s in charge?
Just as The Originals and The Vampire Diaries did, Legacies hails from Julie Plec, who is the writer and executive producer for this new spin-off series alongside Brett Matthews. Also executive producing are Gina Girolamo and Leslie Morgenstein. Marguerite MacIntyre, Thomas Brandon, Sherman Payne, Penny Cox, Stephanie McFarlane, Bryce Ahart all serve as writers on this new series alongside Plec and Matthews. Courtney Perdue is the writer’s assistant for Legacies team of writers. And CBS Television Studios, Warner Bros. Television, Alloy Entertainment and My So-Called Television are the production companies for this project.

What’s this show about?
As you might imagine since Legacies is The Originals spin-off, it will follow Klaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall-Kenner’s daughter Hope Mikaelson. And all the other supernatural beings that are attending The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, developing their supernatural abilities and learning that they don’t have to be villains just because of what they are. Among which are also Alaric Saltzman’s twins, Lizzie and Josie. And many other young vampires, werewolves, and witches.
Who’s playing who?
Since Legacies focuses on Hope, Alaric, and his twin daughters, let’s start with who will be playing these roles. Matthew Davis will be back reprising his role as Alaric Saltzman. Just as he did on both The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. Similarly, Danielle Rose Russell will be back playing 17-year-old Hope. Just like she did on the fifth and final season of The Originals. While Kaylee Bryant and Jenny Boyd will star as Josie and Lizzie Saltzman respectively. But those aren’t the only parts that have been cast for the upcoming series.
Additionally, Archie L. Winston will be playing Jacques Parker. Aria Shahghasemi will protray Landon Kirby. And Quincy Fouse has been cast as M.G. But sadly at the moment, not much is known about these characters. Karen David will take on the role of Emma Tig, The Salvatore School’s guidance counselor. Also, recently it was announced that Steven R. McQueen will be reprising his role as Jeremy Gilbert on the third episode of this new vampire series. And even Zach Roerig will be making an appearance on Legacies as Matt Donovan, the sheriff of Mystic Falls.
