The CW was the first network to announce the shows they are renewing for the 2017-2018 TV season, thus kicking off the TV renewal game and having all TV lovers on edge, waiting to hear if their favorite TV series have been renewed. But now we know which CBS shows have been renewed as well. And these CBS renewals continue the TV show renewal game of will-there-won’t-there be more seasons for popular TV shows.
So which shows were among the CBS renewals?
We already knew that CBS’s hit TV shows NCIS and The Big Bang Theory have been renewed for season 15 and seasons’ 11 and 12 respectively. But now we also know the faith of 16 other beloved CBS shows. So, which TV shows made the CBS renewals cut?
Starting with new series, fans of freshman shows like MacGyver, Bull, Kevin Can Wait, Man with a Plan as well as Superior Donuts can all relax, because their favorites all have been picked up for season 2. This means that we will be able to see more adventures from Jack and Mac, follow the TAC’s work for another year, get more laughs out of Kevin Gable and Adam Burn, and spend more time at the donut shop with Arthur and the gang. But what about veteran series?
If you love Madam Secretary, Hawaii Five-0, Blue Bloods, Scorpion, NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans, Survivor, Mom, Life in Pieces, 60 Minutes and 48 hours, then you’re in luck, because all these shows have been picked up for additional seasons. Madam Secretary and Scorpion will be entering their fourth years on the network. Both Hawaii Five-0 and Blue Bloods will continue their runs with season 8. The two NCIS spin-offs will be prolonging their shows with seasons 9 and 4 respectively. The reality competition Survivor will have its 35th season. The sitcoms Mom and Life in Pieces will go on for their fifth and third seasons. And the two CBS news magazine shows 60 minutes and 48 hours will also be continuing in this upcoming TV season. Unfortunately, there still are some CBS shows, that didn’t get an early renewal.
Which shows are still in the renewal limbo?
Shows like 2 Broke Girls, Elementary, The Great Indoors, The Odd Couple, Training Day, Ransom, Pure Genius, Code black, Criminal minds and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, as well as The Amazing Race, are still in the CBS renewals limbo. Of course, this doesn’t mean that they are canceled. There can be many reasons why a show is not included in the announcement of the early renewals. Among which are contract negotiations, licensing deals, and other reasons. So don’t give up hope if some of your favorite show’s weren’t a part of this CBS renewals announcement. Especially if you are a fan of Criminal Minds and The Amazing Race. A renewal of Criminal Minds is very likely, and as for The Amazing Race, the premiere of the show’s 29th season is on March 30, so if the show has good ratings, it will probably be renewed.
